Google Rolls Out Health Guardian Feature with AI-Powered Health Metrics
The latest update for Android users of Google's health monitoring app has been rolled out. The version 5.09 release includes the long-awaited Health Guardian feature, which uses AI to track subtle bodily changes.
For those with compatible Google Pixel smartwatches, such as the Google Pixel Watch 3, Google Pixel Watch 4, and Google Pixel Watch 5, the update introduces three new health metrics: Vascular Stress Level, Metabolic Stress Level, and Sleep Breathing Quality. These features analyze data collected over multiple weeks to provide a monthly report on the user's health.
According to the source, users need at least 7 days of wearing data per month for Metabolic Stress Level, while Vascular Stress Level requires at least 5 consecutive days of wearing data per week. The AI background tracking mechanisms vary by feature, with some relying on Google's foundation AI model for health.
The Health Guardian suite also includes a safety feature called Respiratory Emergency Detection, which automatically places an emergency call if blood oxygen levels drop critically and the user becomes unresponsive.
