Google Rolls Out Redact Tool in Google Photos to Protect Sensitive Image Data

Google has introduced a new Redact tool in its Google Photos app for Android users worldwide. This feature allows users to blur sensitive information in images, such as vehicle license plate numbers, by turning selected areas into a pixelated block.

The Redact tool is part of the updated Markup feature on Android, which also includes new fonts and thickness sliders for pens and highlighters. The feature can be used to censor details in photos, and Google says it's useful for protecting sensitive information such as license plate numbers.

In addition to the Redact tool, Google has also rolled out other updates to its Photos app. These include an expansion of its Wardrobe feature, which allows users to create a catalog of clothes and jewelry from images stored in their photo library for styling ideas. The feature is now available to Android and iOS users in the United States, India, and Brazil who do not already have access.
