Google Says Some Apps Need Tuning for Intel Googlebook Laptops
Google has revealed that some Android apps may need additional optimization to run smoothly on Intel-powered Googlebook laptops. The company clarified that while most apps work well on both Intel and Qualcomm-based systems, a few complex apps and games could require extra developer tuning for Intel hardware. This discrepancy arises because many Android apps were originally designed for ARM processors, which can lead to performance or compatibility issues on Intel's x86 architecture.
Google did not specify which apps are affected but indicated that a small number of more demanding applications might not perform identically across Intel and Snapdragon Googlebooks. The company is collaborating with app developers, Intel, and Qualcomm to enhance performance and compatibility across the platform.
Out of the five initial Googlebook models, three use Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, while the remaining two, offered by Dell and HP, feature Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chips. Googlebooks are now available starting at $899, with sales beginning October 4 in the US and October 5 in select other markets.
