Google Secures Geothermal Deal for Potential Utah Data Center

Google has secured an agreement to purchase electricity from Fervo Energy's geothermal plant in southwest Utah, equivalent to one-tenth of the state's current energy consumption. The deal is aimed at powering a potential data center campus. Fervo Energy announced its agreement with Google on September 16, 2026, stating that time is critical for moving forward with new city water and sewer lines, as well as eventual annexation.
