Google Selects French Music Tech Startup Base for Music for AI Forum
Google for Startups has selected French music marketing company Base for Music to participate in its upcoming Gemini Startup Forum in California. The two-day event, held at Google’s headquarters, brings together startups at the Seed to Series A funding stages with Google’s AI experts. Base for Music is the only music tech company in the cohort, which includes over 100 startups from 17 countries.
Base for Music offers a marketing operating system that consolidates ad spend, audience, CRM, and streaming data into one environment, enabling users to track the return on each marketing investment. The company raised €1.5 million (USD $1.73m) in a June 2025 funding round, backed by several investors including LeanSquare, Super Capital, and One Green. Founded in 2021, Base for Music now supports over 20,000 artists and labels worldwide, working with partners such as Ditto, iMusician, IDOL, SoundOn, and Cinq Music.
The company’s technology helps artist teams decide which releases to promote, when, and how much to spend. According to Maxence Bazin, Base for Music’s CEO and founder, the core challenge was building a technical infrastructure capable of aggregating fragmented marketing data sources and correlating them to surface key growth signals. The company claims that marketing ROI has long been “a black box for the industry,” and its tech can now predict that return before a campaign launches.
Base for Music developed its own AI, Base Intelligence, as part of the Google for Startups program in France. The AI turns each artist’s data into recommendations, delivered in the company’s Artist Dashboard or as reports for account managers. A case study cited by Bazin involves a campaign for Brazilian artist Tom Ribeira, which used a €1,000 investment to achieve over 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify in less than six months, becoming profitable within three months.
