Google Settles UK App Developer Class Action for £260 Million
Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, has agreed to pay £260 million ($354 million) to settle a UK class action lawsuit. The claim alleged that Google abused its dominance in the app market by charging excessive commissions to developers through its Play Store.
The action was brought on behalf of UK app developers by Barry Rodger, a competition law professor. According to the claim, Google imposed 'excessive and unfair' commissions for transactions through its Play Store.
