Google Sheets Enhances Pivot Table Features with Drag-and-Drop Functionality

Google has made significant improvements to its Sheets service, particularly when it comes to pivot tables. Users can now drag and drop rows or columns in pivot tables, allowing for more flexibility in data manipulation.

The update also ensures that data hierarchy is maintained when moving rows or columns with nested child items. This means that complex pivot tables with expandable and collapsible sections will remain structured even after reordering.

Another key feature is the preservation of custom sorting in pivot tables imported from Excel spreadsheets. Google Sheets now maintains any custom sort applied within Excel, ensuring a seamless transition between apps.

The new features are rolling out to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts starting today, although it may take up to 15 days for the full rollout to complete.
