Google Shifts API Access Management to Google Cloud Console
Google has changed how it manages API access for developers using its Ads platform. As of September 10, 2026, Google has moved access management out of manager accounts and into the Google Cloud Console.
This change affects how developers authenticate with the platform, as the developer token is no longer used to determine access levels. Instead, access levels are now tied to Google Cloud projects.
According to Google, existing code will continue to work without modification, but any pending Basic Access applications were closed on September 10 and must be resubmitted from the new page in the Cloud Console.
The change also introduces a new requirement for brand verification of Google Cloud projects, which is mandatory for new Basic and Standard Access applications. Existing access holders are exempt, but are encouraged to complete the verification anyway.
