Google Slashes Time for Recovering Deleted Google Photos
Google Photos has reduced the time users have to recover deleted photos from 60 days to 30 days. This change was first spotted last month, and now users are starting to receive notifications within the app about the shortened window.
The previous policy allowed users who had backed up images with Google Photos to retain a 60-day grace period before they were permanently deleted. For locally stored photos, the retention limit was already 30 days. Now, all users will have only 30 days to recover their deleted pictures.
While 30 days may seem like ample time for users to review and restore deleted images, some are concerned about the service downgrade. They argue that if a user hasn't made up their mind about keeping a photo after several weeks, it's unlikely they will change their decision in just a few more days.
