Google Sues SerpApi Over Search Result Scraping, Renewing Months-Old Battle

Google has renewed its battle against SerpApi over scraping search results. The tech giant filed an amended complaint alleging that SerpApi bypassed attempts to prevent it from scraping Google's search results.

This move comes three weeks after a US District Court Judge dismissed Google's original complaint, ruling that the company could not pursue claims for much of the material on search results pages.

Google alleges that its licensing partners, including Reddit, have directed them to prevent unauthorized access to licensed content. The company also claims that it receives 'hundreds of millions of artificial search requests each day' from SerpApi.

SerpApi has stated that they remain confident in their position and look forward to responding. This is not the only issue facing SerpApi, as Reddit has also filed a claim against them for obtaining copyrighted posts from Google's search results without permission.
