Google System Component Android Pulse Surfaces in Play Store After 10 Million Installs

Android Pulse, a Google system component, has been visible in some Google Play update lists after months of quieter distribution. The component exists since March and has exceeded 10 million installs.

The package name is com.google.android.apps.pulse, and it's published by Google LLC, part of Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL). Android Pulse facilitates rule distribution for detecting abnormal resource use by Android and installed apps, as described in its narrow public explanation.

A fresh build became visible on August 22, but the component has been around since March. The visibility is not due to a new installation, but rather a presentation problem that has led some users to mistake it for an unfamiliar app.
