A warehouse in south Kansas City that was once considered for use as an ICE detention center has found a new tenant. Google leased the roughly 920,000-square-foot building at 14901 Botts Road, according to public records filed with Jackson County this month.

The lease dates back to July 7, and it involves Google, the property owner, and the Port Authority of Kansas City.

Back in January, federal immigration officials toured the area and looked at the site as a possible ICE detention center. The possibility drew pushback from several leaders in the metro, who passed moratoriums on ICE detention centers.
