Google Teams with White House on AI-Powered Federal Services Portal
Google has partnered with the White House to launch America.gov, a federal services portal aimed at simplifying how citizens access public resources online. According to Jim Kelly, vice president of federal at Google Public Sector, the company is using its Gemini AI model to help over 100 million people access critical public services faster and more easily.
The portal, announced on September 29, 2026, invites visitors to describe what they need from government and lists example questions covering various topics such as finding a job, registering a new business, and replacing a Social Security card. The service uses AI to produce simple answers only from official government sources and brings 29,000 government websites into one place.
The portal is free to use and never includes ads. Users can ask questions in English, Spanish, or French and receive answers in the same language. The service runs in a browser on a phone, tablet, or computer with no app download required.
