Google Tests AI-Powered 'Call for Me' Feature on Pixel Devices

Google has started testing its 'Call for Me' feature on Pixel 11 devices in the US, which allows Gemini to make phone calls on a user's behalf. The feature is currently limited to users with a paid Gemini subscription and the beta version of Google's Phone app.

Gemini can pass along personal information that users have approved, enabling it to handle tasks such as making reservations, rescheduling appointments, or checking if a product is in stock. The AI navigates phone menus, waits on hold, and calls from the user's own number.

A live transcript allows users to follow the conversation and take over at any time. This feature builds on earlier Google experiments, such as Google Duplex.
