Google Tests Business Agent in YouTube Ads

Google has started testing its Business Agent within YouTube ads for eligible U.S. retailers. This allows viewers to ask product questions without leaving the video context.

The beta is part of a larger update that includes AI performance insights and Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) capabilities. The latter enables cart transfer and checkout-flow testing, aiming to make agent-based shopping more operational.

The introduction of Business Agent in YouTube ads changes the role of the ad from simply promoting a product to becoming a research surface where viewers can ask detailed questions and receive guidance without exiting the viewing environment.
