Google Tests In-App Flipkart Purchases for Indian Shoppers

Google has begun testing a feature that allows shoppers in India to purchase products from Flipkart directly through its Gemini assistant and AI Mode search interface.

The new capability presents users with a “Buy” button on select Flipkart product listings surfaced within Gemini and AI Mode, routing them to a Flipkart checkout flow without exiting the AI interface.

The test is currently limited to a small group of users and a narrow range of products, including smartphones, electronics, and mobile accessories.

Google plans to expand the feature more broadly later in October, timed to coincide with India’s festive shopping season, one of the highest-traffic periods for the country's e-commerce sector.
