Google Ties Looker to Gemini Enterprise for Governed Workplace AI

Google has integrated its Looker platform with Gemini Enterprise to enhance workplace AI capabilities. This integration brings Looker's semantic layer into Gemini Enterprise, allowing users to ask questions in natural language and receive accurate answers.

The integration aims to reduce inconsistent results from AI systems used for business reporting by using a governed source for definitions. This ensures that teams querying data through Gemini Enterprise receive answers tied to the same approved logic used elsewhere in the business.

Security controls remain in place, with governance and access control being central to the design. Users must provide one-time OAuth consent to bind their Gemini Enterprise session to their Looker credentials, allowing existing row-level and column-level permissions to remain in force.
