Google to Pay $716M for Arkansas Data Center Power
Google's massive data center project in Arkansas is getting into specifics about how much it will pay for power. According to documents obtained by a public records request, Google has agreed to pay $716 million over several years for electricity at its West Memphis facility.
The deal with Entergy shows the complexities of the national data center boom and the pressure on utilities to meet growing demand while keeping costs low for customers.
Google's share of construction costs will be about a third, or $443 million in accelerated payments and $83 million in minimum demand payments. The project is expected to start feeding electricity into the grid by February 2027, with full capacity reached by October 2029.
The solar and battery project will supply power for Google's data center, which was announced last fall as a $4 billion investment on 1,100 acres near West Memphis. Entergy has said that Google will pay rates that cover the cost of the resource.
