Google Tops Apple as Most Valuable Brand Amid AI-Fueled Growth
The BrandZ brand rankings have been shaken up by the power of generative AI. Google's brand value soared 57% thanks to its integration of Gemini into all its existing products, allowing it to leapfrog Apple and take the top spot for the first time since 2018.
Apple still grew by 6%, but the growth of AI overshadowed it. The head of Kantar BrandZ notes that this is a long-overdue shakeup, reminiscent of 2008 when Blackberry's value jumped even faster than ChatGPT's current 285% year-on-year increase.
The collective value of the top 100 brands has reached $13.1 trillion, with four of the Top 10 having shattered the trillion-dollar threshold. Google now holds the number one spot at $1.5 trillion, followed by Apple at $1.4 trillion and Microsoft at $1.1 trillion.
The growth in AI-driven brands is not just driven by technology itself but also by old-school investments in brand marketing. Marketers are using AI to bring judgment back into the system and identify which signals to trust in a fragmented market.
