Google Tries to Catch Up with Personal Agent Surge
Google's new AI model, Gemini 4 Argon, has been released to compete in the market for personal agents. The company has promised major advances in coding, cybersecurity, and complex tasks with this latest model. According to industry benchmarks, Argon ties OpenAI on a key cybersecurity test and posts leading results in software engineering.
The model's introductory pricing of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens matches OpenAI's newly discounted GPT-6.1 Sol model. However, personal agents are becoming increasingly popular, with Meta's Muse app reaching 5 million downloads as of September 30.
Google's Spark agent is limited to paying subscribers, while Meta's Muse is free with usage caps. The company is evaluating whether its latest frontier model could strengthen Spark and provide it with the capabilities needed to compete with other personal agents.
