Google Unveils Gemini 4 Argon AI Model for Vulnerability Detection and Patching
Google has unveiled its new frontier AI model, Gemini 4 Argon, which can identify and patch critical software vulnerabilities without human assistance. The model is being rolled out to a select group of trusted cyber defenders through Google's Fairwind Program.
The company claims that Argon can locate and validate vulnerabilities in complex codebases across 20 programming languages, including those used by the healthcare industry. In one instance, it discovered a critical vulnerability exposing sensitive personal information in healthcare software used by hospitals worldwide, which earlier frontier models had missed.
Google is taking a phased approach to releasing Argon's capabilities, starting with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers. The company has also strengthened safeguards against potential misuse of the model for cyber attacks or other malicious activities.
