Google Unveils Gemini 4 Argon Frontier AI Model Amid Market Fears
Google has announced its latest frontier artificial intelligence model, Gemini 4 Argon, as part of its continued push into the field. The move is seen as encouraging by BNP Paribas analyst Nick Jones, who notes that Google's commitment to competing at the frontier is reinforced by the introduction of this new model.
Jones expects Google to continue innovating with Gemini 4 Argon, including releasing more models at different price points for various use cases. He also predicts that a consumer-facing agent similar to Meta's Muse may be introduced in the future, leveraging Gemini across Google's broad consumer ecosystem.
Gemini 4 Argon surpasses competitor offerings in complex workflows, knowledge work, cyber defense, multimodal understanding, and software engineering. However, it is not yet ready for public release due to frontier safeguards. Pichai emphasized that the company will roll out the model responsibly, starting with a set of trusted cyber defenders through its Fairwind Program.
When launched, Gemini 4 Argon will cost $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input tokens priced at 95% off the input token price. Google has already been using the model internally for specialized coding tasks, in-depth research, and writing quality.
