Google Unveils Gemini 4 Argon with Enhanced Coding and Cybersecurity Capabilities
Google has announced Gemini 4 Argon, an artificial intelligence model that claims to deliver stronger coding and cybersecurity capabilities at lower prices than competing models. The company's shares rose by about 2% in premarket trading following the announcement.
The new AI model is designed for demanding software development and cybersecurity tasks. It can independently identify, verify, and repair software vulnerabilities, according to Google.
Argon recorded a record-breaking 77.9% score on the DeepSWE v1.1 coding benchmark, beating other models like Grok 4.7 and Claude Opus 5.5 in some evaluations. However, it trailed behind leading systems in more demanding tests, such as FrontierSWE v2.
Google is making Argon available to a select group of trusted cybersecurity researchers before its wider release. Paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers will receive access initially, followed by developers, businesses, and consumers.
