Google Unveils Google Workspace, A New Brand for Its Productivity Apps
Google has rebranded its suite of productivity apps, including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet, as Google Workspace. This change marks a shift away from the previous name G Suite, which was launched in 2016.
The company claims that Google Workspace will offer deeper integration between individual apps, allowing teams to collaborate more effectively and businesses to power new digital customer experiences.
Some of these integrations are already live, such as the addition of Meet to Gmail. However, more features are coming soon, including dynamic collaboration on documents with guests in a Chat room and previewing someone's contact details when mentioned in a document.
The new branding also comes with a revamped logo for Gmail, which replaces the traditional envelope design with a colorful 'M' icon.
Google has also introduced new pricing plans for Workspace, including Business Starter ($6 per month per user), Business Standard ($12 per month per user), and Business Plus ($18 per month per user). An Enterprise plan is also available on request.
