Google Unveils Merchant Center Performance Report Overhaul
Google announced a series of updates to its Merchant Center performance report, set to go live on August 24th, 2026. The four main changes aim to provide a clearer view of product performance across various Google platforms.
The first update separates YouTube affiliate results from organic traffic, with products eligible for commission reported as a distinct interaction type under the new 'YouTube Affiliate' value. This will exclude these results from the 'Organic' reporting value, potentially causing a one-time drop in organic traffic.
The second update aligns the definitions for YouTube organic traffic with established YouTube reporting standards. This change ensures that performance data remains accurate and consistent across the Google ecosystem.
The third update expands product-level reporting for Google Ads to include performance from all ad channels and formats. This will provide a centralized view of how products perform, including data for Performance Max campaigns and metrics for Video, App, and Demand Gen campaigns.
The fourth update introduces new performance segmentation capabilities by adding a 'Network' dimension similar to Google Ads. This will allow users to analyze channel-specific efficiency and compare performance across different Google Networks.
