Google Unveils Three New Subsea Cables for Americas Connect Network
Google has announced three new subsea cable systems as part of its Americas Connect network plan. The cables, named Alisios, Canoa, and OlaLuz, will link the Caribbean, Latin America, the United States, and Europe.
Alisios will connect the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Chile, while Canoa will run from the Dominican Republic to Bermuda, where it can join with Nuvem and Sol systems for further routes toward North America and Europe. OlaLuz is designed to link the Dominican Republic directly with Florida.
The company aims to create separate paths between its cloud regions through these new cables. The design includes a ring between Chile and Panama, as well as a third route from Panama to the U.S. West Coast on the Pacific side. In the Caribbean, the Panama-Dominican Republic segment will connect with routes to the U.S. East Coast.
