Google Updates Android Services with Motion Assist, Local Currency Purchases
Google has released new updates for its Google System services in September 2026. The changes affect various aspects of Android phones, tablets, Wear OS, Google/Android TV, Auto, and PC. Some features are aimed at developers, while others will be visible to end-users.
The updates include improvements to Health & Fitness, Safety & Emergency, and System Management services. For instance, Motion Assist can now help mitigate motion sickness with visual shapes that move in sync with a vehicle's motion. Additionally, users can more easily find the Driving Do Not Disturb feature.
Google Play Store v53.3 also received an update, allowing users to make purchases in local currency in certain countries and introducing changes to the search results page on Wear devices. Furthermore, Google Play services v26.37 includes bug fixes for Account Management related services and updates for System Management & Diagnostics.
Android AICore has been updated with model management enhancements, expanded device compatibility, performance optimizations, and diagnostics improvements. Android WebView v154 changed its Finch from Application consistent to Device level consistent, improving security and privacy while fixing bugs.
