Google Updates Pixel Buds with New Noise Cancellation and Translation Features

Google has rolled out a significant firmware update for its Pixel Buds Pro, Pro 2, and 2a models, following last month’s integration of Gemini control. The update introduces several new features, with one exclusive to the Pixel Buds Pro 2: Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation. This feature automatically adjusts audio or noise cancellation based on the fit of the earbuds in the user’s ear, compensating for any subtle shifts in position.

The remaining features are available across the Pixel Buds Pro (2022), Pro 2 (2024), and 2a (2025) models. These include Tap to Mute, which allows users to mute and unmute the microphone during calls by tapping the earbuds, though this requires a paired Pixel phone. Another addition is the auto-pause feature for media playback when the user falls asleep, determined by Pixel Watch sleep sensing. This also disables touch gestures and silences notifications.

The update also introduces Enhanced Live Translate, enabling users to translate conversations or listening mode outputs instantly with a simple touch on the earbuds, working seamlessly with the Google Translate app. To access these features, users should ensure they are running the latest version of the Pixel Buds app and check for firmware update 6.144 in the companion client.
