Google Wallet Adds Oklahoma IDs for Digital Convenience
Google Wallet has expanded its digital ID support to include Oklahoma driver’s licenses and state IDs. This addition brings the total number of supported US states and territories to thirteen, following a recent integration with Ohio IDs.
To set up a digital Oklahoma ID, users must open the Google Wallet app, select the driver’s license option, and scan both the front and back of their physical card. They also submit a short video of their face for identity verification. Once approved by the state agency, users receive a confirmation email and notification to activate the digital card.
The digital card features local symbols like the American Bison and scissor-tailed flycatcher. Users can tap NFC readers or show a QR code for quick scanning, with the system securely sharing necessary details via Bluetooth. This eliminates the need to hand over an unlocked phone to security personnel.
While digital IDs streamline airport security, state guidelines still require carrying a physical card. Security measures include requiring an Android 8 or newer device with an active screen lock and Bluetooth enabled. Digital passes are stored locally on the device and can be managed or wiped remotely through Google Account settings.
