Google Wallet Now Lets Parents Set Up Secure Balances for Kids Under 18
Google Wallet has added a new feature that lets parents set up secure balances for their kids under 18. This allows children to manage their own money without needing an actual bank account, while still giving parents control over their spending.
The new feature includes daily spending limits, transaction history review, and notification options. Parents can also lock or unlock the account if their child's device is lost, or activate a temporary 'spending timeout' to pause spending at any time.
This move brings Google Wallet more in line with competing financial tools, such as Apple Cash Family and FamZoo, which allow parents to monitor transactions and manage spending controls. The update is currently rolling out in the United States, although it's unclear when or if this feature will be available in other regions.
