Amazon Pharmacy Brings Affordable GLP-1 Medications to Medicare Patients

Amazon Pharmacy has begun delivering GLP-1 weight management medications to eligible Medicare patients for $50 per month, as part of a short-term federal initiative running through December 31, 2027. The program aims to address the cost barrier that has kept many Medicare patients from accessing these medications.

The Bridge Program enables eligible Medicare Part D members who meet specific clinical criteria to access weight management prescriptions at a predictable and accessible cost. Amazon Pharmacy handles the majority of the paperwork and delivers Wegovy, Zepbound, and Foundayo to patients' doors with Same-Day Delivery and kiosk pickup.

Ambitious automation: once a clinician sends an electronic GLP-1 prescription to Amazon Pharmacy, customers can add their Bridge insurance plan and Medicare details to their account. Amazon Pharmacy takes care of the rest, eligibility verification, prior authorization, and starting the enrollment process on behalf of the customer.
