Google Wallet Unleashes New Features in 2026: Track Packages, Tap Through Airport Security
Google Wallet has undergone significant updates in 2026, adding new features that make it more useful and convenient for users. One of the notable additions is the ability to view online orders and track packages within the app. This feature requires package tracking to be enabled in Gmail, but once set up, users can see detailed receipts, tracking numbers, and shipping status inside Wallet.
In June 2026, Google partnered with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to make Wallet the first digital wallet compatible with the PreCheck Touchless ID program. At 65 US airports, users can show their phone instead of a physical ID if they have TSA PreCheck. To use this feature, users need to set up their ID pass and save their boarding pass in Wallet.
Another significant update is the allowance feature for Google Wallet, which allows parents to send money to their child's account on a regular basis or as needed. The child can then use their phone to tap-to-pay, providing an additional layer of security and convenience. This feature has been particularly popular among users with children.
Additionally, 11 states have added the ability to add official state driver's licenses or ID cards to Google Wallet in 2026. These states include Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Ohio. More states are expected to follow suit in 2027.
The app has also been updated to allow users to transfer physical transit cards and their balances to Wallet via NFC. This feature simplifies the process of adding transit cards to the app and reduces the need for manual entry.
