Google has announced that some existing Chromebooks could be upgraded to the new Googlebook OS. According to a recent support note, 'many of our newest Chromebook devices will be eligible to transition to Googlebook OS.' However, the company hasn't provided any further clarification on which models would be eligible or how to migrate to Googlebook OS.

Google also mentioned that details about the migration process will be shared 'soon,' but didn't specify when exactly this will happen. It could be as early as next week or as late as next year, leaving users in limbo.

The support note also revealed that Google is working on delivering a comprehensive management experience for Googlebooks, which is expected to roll out in the second half of 2027. This feature is geared towards businesses looking to bring Googlebooks into their operations.
