Googlebooks new features streamline file management between devices
The newly released Googlebooks lineup comes with two standout features designed to enhance file management between your Android phone and laptop. The first is Quick Access, which allows seamless browsing, opening, and transferring files between paired devices. Users can access Downloads, Documents, and Camera folders directly from the Files app on their Googlebook, with drag-and-drop functionality for files under 200MB. For larger files, Google recommends using Quick Share instead.
Another notable addition is Files AI, which provides instant descriptions of files without needing to open them. By enabling "Boost your productivity with AI" in the Files app and switching to list view, users can see brief descriptions like "Payslip for September 2026" next to their file names. Files AI also improves search functionality by identifying image subjects, even if they aren’t mentioned in the file name.
However, these features come with limitations. Quick Access and other cross-device functions require a phone running Android 17 or newer. Additionally, Files AI may take up to an hour to activate and won’t work if the Googlebook’s battery is low, though Google hasn’t specified what constitutes a "low battery."
