Google's $15B Finland Investment Lifts Danske GDP Forecast
Danske Bank has raised its forecast for Finland's GDP in 2027 to 2.1% after Google announced plans to invest €13 billion ($15.1 billion) in AI infrastructure in the country.
The investment, which is one of the largest industrial investments ever recorded in Finland, according to Danske Bank economist Olavi Kaskisaari, will likely boost local demand and potentially have regional spillovers.
The €13 billion investment will be split between building activity and IT hardware, but it's unclear what proportion each will receive. The bank warned that Google's stated timetable appears tight, which could complicate the execution of the plan.
If Finland reaches a 2.1% GDP growth rate in 2027, it would mark the country's fastest pace in six years.
