Google's $6M Bet on West Texas Communities
Google has pledged $6 million to various non-profits in Haskell and surrounding counties as part of its $40 billion investment in West Texas. The funding will go towards supporting local healthcare infrastructure, education, and community development initiatives.
The announcement was made by Google's Community Development Manager Hailey Stuteville, who acknowledged that the company had not always been a good partner to the community and expressed a desire to make amends for any negative impacts caused by its data center expansion.
The funding includes $1 million for Haskell Memorial Hospital Foundation, $750,000 for the Haskell Foundation to support municipal infrastructure, and $50,000 for the Haskell Pregnancy Center. Other recipients include school districts, museums, library associations, veterans groups, and more.
