Google's $94 Billion SpaceX Stake Revealed in Latest 13F Filing
Google's Q2 holdings have been revealed in its latest 13F filing with the SEC, showing a massive stake in Elon Musk's SpaceX. The tech giant holds approximately 551 million Class A common shares of SpaceX, worth around $94.176 billion and accounting for 95.05% of its entire portfolio. This substantial holding represents the revaluation of an early investment made over a decade ago, following SpaceX's listing on the Nasdaq in June.
The majority of Google's stake in SpaceX is subject to short-term sale restrictions, with around $80 billion worth of shares locked up until Q3 2027. Another approximately $14.1 billion worth are subject to long-term sale restrictions. Excluding SpaceX, Google's Q2 portfolio had a market value of around $4.906 billion, up about 22.2% from the previous quarter.
Google's investment logic remains centered around core themes such as computing power, energy, connectivity, enterprise software, and life sciences, showing strong synergy with its own AI and cloud computing strategy. The company did not make significant directional adjustments to its public market holdings in Q2, but continued to reduce risk exposure in certain biotech positions.
