Google's Ad Platform Fails to Prevent Scam Ads
Google's advertising platform has faced scrutiny over its ability to protect advertisers from scams. According to an analysis by VAB, despite removing over 8 billion ads and shutting down approximately 25 million advertiser accounts in 2025, Google still attracts scam artists.
The study found that Google removed 602 million ads for violations tied to scams and suspended more than 4 million accounts for scam-related activity. However, the group argues that Google has not reported how long the scam ads were live and many people viewed them.
VAB's analysis suggests that Google may not be as safe an environment for advertisers as traditional television. The data raises questions about the effectiveness of Google's ad review process in preventing scams from reaching consumers.
