Google's Ad Platform Struck by Scam Ads, Raising Questions About Safety
Google's advertising platform has come under scrutiny after a recent analysis by VAB found that it may not be as safe an environment to advertise in compared to television. The group, which examined Google data from last year, discovered that over 8 billion ads were blocked or removed and around 25 million advertiser accounts were shut down.
The analysis, titled 'Bad Actors: Examining How Much Objectionable Advertising Google Takes Action Against', revealed that Google removed 602 million ads for violations tied to scams. This number is significant as it represents a substantial portion of the total ads blocked or removed by the platform.
VAB argues that while Google took action against these scam ads, it did not provide information on how long they were live and how many people viewed them before being removed. This lack of transparency has raised concerns about the safety of advertising on Google's platform.
