Google's AI Mode Adds Hotel Booking and Flight Price Tracking
Google's AI Mode has expanded its capabilities to include hotel booking for travelers. The tech giant announced that users can now describe their trip and receive a list of hotels with photos, rates, and reviews. They can then select 'Continue on Google' to choose a room and pay using Google Pay.
The feature integrates with several major hotel chains, including Choice Hotels International, Hilton, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Priceline, and Trip.com. These partners will handle post-checkout customer service.
Google also introduced flight price tracking, which uses data from over 300 airlines and travel sites to alert users when prices change. Additionally, the company added a points and miles tool that allows users to see how many points or miles they need for a trip based on partner program data.
The rollout is part of Google's push to make AI Mode a full-fledged booking platform. Users can now compare flights and hotels, build itineraries, and complete bookings within the chat interface.
Choice Hotels' Chief Data, AI, and Technology Officer Anna Scozzafava said that the company is actively shaping the future of travel discovery and positioning its franchisees to compete in the age of agentic commerce.
