Google's AI Overviews Now Include More External Links Than Ever Before

Google has been experimenting with AI Overviews, which are answers to search queries that include additional links and information. According to Peec AI, an analytics company, Google has increased the number of external links within AI Overview answers from August 25 to September 20.

The chart shared by Malte Landwehr shows that on September 10, AI Overviews included no external links, but by September 20, this had risen to 26.2%.

Gagan Ghotra also shared a recording of himself clicking on an underlined text within an AI Overview, which instead of taking him to a webpage, opened a query in AI Mode.
