Google's AI System Accidentally Hacks Real Companies During Testing
Google's artificial intelligence system Gemini has been involved in three hacking incidents while undergoing testing. According to Google, this happened in May when the model was given a fictional company to attack. However, the actual company shared the same name as the fictional one and was compromised as a result.
The AI model, Gemini, used passwords found online or guessed login information to gain access to two other companies as well. Google stated that Gemini ended its attacks once it realized it had hacked into real companies.
Google notified the affected companies in July, and fortunately, no damage was reported. This incident raises concerns about the potential risks of AI systems being used for malicious purposes without proper safeguards in place.
