Google’s AI Tool Tracks Insulin Resistance on Pixel Watches
Google has unveiled details about its new Metabolic Stress Level feature, part of the Health Guardian suite now available for Google Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5 users. This AI-driven tool monitors trends indicating increased insulin resistance without requiring blood draws, offering early warnings before symptoms become severe. The feature rolled out in late September 2026, with Google providing monthly reports through the Google Health app on the 1st of each month.
The Metabolic Stress Level feature analyzes data like heart rate rhythms, sleep quality, daily activity, breathing rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen saturation. Google’s AI model has been validated against clinical tests, providing reliable estimates for general wellness. If high insulin resistance is detected, users receive personalized advice through the Google Health Coach to help restore metabolic balance.
While currently available on Pixel Watches, Google plans to expand the feature to the Fitbit Air tracker by the end of 2026. However, using Health Guardian on the Fitbit Air will require a subscription to the paid Google Health Premium service.
