Google's latest feature, Ask Maps, has integrated elements of its Gemini AI engine to enable users to ask for complex tasks such as ordering food. The feature allows users to request specific dishes and pick-up or delivery options within their route.

Square and Toast Inc. are among the first point-of-sale system companies to enable agentic food ordering within Maps. Square's food-and-beverage merchants that activate a Google Business Profile can surface in Ask Map results, with menus, hours, and location details automatically syncing from their Square Dashboard.

Users can browse a Square merchant's menu, customize orders, and complete checkout using Order by Cash App. Payment is prompted as a standard e-commerce purchase, allowing users to choose from various payment methods, including credit or debit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Cash App balance, and gift cards.
