Google's DeepMind Closes In on Gemini 4 AI Model Release

Google's AI division DeepMind is nearing the release of its latest flagship model, Gemini 4. Koray Kavukcuoglu, head of DeepMind, said at The Information's AI Agenda Live Summit that the development phase for Gemini 4 has begun in earnest.

Gemini 4 aims to refine the performance of the base AI model and ensure reliable operation. According to Kavukcuoglu, the model is expected to launch 'much earlier' than the end of the year.

This release comes as Google tries to catch up with competitors Anthropic and OpenAI in the AI market. Meta Platforms has also seen its AI products gain popularity in recent months.
