Google’s Fitbit Edge Fitness Tracker Confirmed Ahead of Launch
Google’s upcoming fitness tracker, previously teased in Pixel 11 marketing, is now confirmed to be real and nearing release. Known as the Fitbit Edge, this device bridges the gap between the screenless Fitbit Air and the feature-rich Pixel Watch 5. It offers health tracking capabilities without the extensive app ecosystem of a smartwatch.
Leaked images reveal the Edge features a small oval screen displaying the time, date, two widgets, and a workout shortcut, likely for running. The device comes in black, green, and orange, with interchangeable bands for added customization. It includes a large side button, a sensor array similar to the Fitbit Air, and smaller back buttons for band release. While not as premium as the Pixel Watch, it appears more upscale than older Fitbit models.
Beyond health features, the Edge will show smartphone notifications and run apps like Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Find My Phone. It boasts up to seven days of battery life and works with both Android and iOS devices. Priced between $149 and $199, the Edge could replace Fitbit’s Charge and Versa lines, signaling Google’s effort to revitalize the Fitbit brand after years of decline.
The device addresses a niche for users who want a screen but aren’t willing to switch to Android or pay for a Pixel Watch. If released in October as rumored, the Fitbit Edge could be a compelling option for fitness enthusiasts.
