Google’s Fitbit Edge fitness tracker with color screen may launch soon
Google is reportedly preparing to launch the Fitbit Edge, a new fitness tracker featuring a color screen, potentially arriving within weeks. Leaked renders from Android Headlines reveal an oval display, built-in GPS, and a seven-day battery life. If accurate, this would mark Google's first screen-based Fitbit band since 2023, compatible with both Android and iPhones.
The Fitbit Edge sports a slim, oval design reminiscent of recent Xiaomi Smart Band models. It includes physical side controls, health sensors on the underside, and a redesigned strap mount. The tracker also features an altimeter for elevation tracking and automatic workout detection. The app selection is limited to Google Maps, YouTube Music, Find My Phone, and phone notifications, positioning it as a fitness tracker with smart features rather than a full smartwatch.
The device is expected to come in Obsidian, Olive, and Canyon colors, aligning with the Pixel 11 range. An FCC filing under model number G8BL6 supports the leak, according to time.news. Pricing is estimated between $149 and $199, placing it between the screenless Fitbit Air ($99) and the Pixel Watch 5 ($349). Competitors include the Garmin Venu Sq 2 ($199) and the Apple Watch SE ($249), both of which are full smartwatches.
An October announcement is speculated, which would allow the Edge to hit shelves before the holiday shopping season. However, this date is based on business logic rather than confirmed plans and could shift to November. Google has not announced UK pricing or availability, nor has it confirmed details for US retailers. Owners of aging Charge models should wait for the official launch before considering a replacement, as final pricing and app support may differ from the leak.
