Google’s Fitbit Edge leaks ahead of holiday launch
Google is preparing to launch the Fitbit Edge, a new fitness tracker that bridges the gap between the Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5. The device, revealed in a detailed leak by Android Headlines, features a small oval display, side buttons, and a sensor array similar to the Fitbit Air. It comes in black, green, and orange variants, matching the color options of the Pixel 11 Pro.
The Fitbit Edge is designed as a health and fitness-focused tracker, offering up to seven days of battery life, GPS, an altimeter, and automatic activity recognition. It will support notifications from your phone and a limited set of apps, including Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Find My Phone. The band uses a pinch mechanism for swapping straps, differentiating it from the Pixel Watch.
Google has not released a new Fitbit Charge since 2023, leaving the future of the lineup uncertain. The Fitbit Edge could fill this gap, offering a more affordable alternative to a full-fledged smartwatch. It is expected to support both Android and iOS, positioning it between the distraction-free Fitbit Air and the feature-rich Pixel Watch 5.
The device is rumored to launch this month, ahead of the holiday shopping season. Pricing is estimated to range between $149 and $199, fitting between the Fitbit Air’s $99 starting price and the previous Fitbit Charge models, which ranged from $129 to $179.
