Google's Gemini Makes Calls for You: 'Call for Me' Feature Unveiled

Google's Gemini AI assistant is expanding its capabilities to include making phone calls on behalf of users. The new 'Call for Me' feature allows Gemini to place calls, navigate automated menus, and even share authorized personal information during conversations.

The feature is currently available to Pixel 11 owners in the US with a Gemini subscription, who also need to have the beta version of Google's Phone app installed on their Android device. This limited rollout is part of Google's cautious approach to refining the technology before making it more widely available.

With 'Call for Me', users can instruct Gemini to make calls for tasks such as checking product availability at a store, rescheduling appointments, or asking businesses to hold items on hold. The AI assistant can then place the call and work through automated menus, remaining on hold until a person answers.
