Google's Magic Cue Falls Short: Is Tensor Chip Limitation to Blame?

As an avid user of Google Pixel phones for years, I was initially excited about the new Magic Cue feature on the Pixel 10. However, after closely observing its performance, I realized that it has a significant flaw.

While some users have reported success with Magic Cue, my experience and that of AP's reporters show that it's inconsistent at best. We've never seen it work consistently, even when trying to provoke it.

The introduction of Private AI Compute, which enables cloud-based processing for AI tasks, has further highlighted the issue. It allows Magic Cue to process more efficiently, but this raises concerns about the limitations of Tensor chips in handling demanding AI tasks.

Google's decision not to admit that Magic Cue was limited by Pixel 10 hardware at launch is puzzling. Instead, they introduced Private AI Compute as a way to improve performance, which may be a sign that they're prioritizing speed over functionality.
